Direct TV versus Dish Network
For customers who are attempting to choose between Dish Network and Direct TV, the wealth of information out there can be both a benefit and a problem. It is very difficult to find unbiased information, and many of us are wary of taking the word of retailers who may only be interested in parting us from our cash!
But a ruling by the Federal Court in December 2006 has made many peoples minds up for them. The ruling dictates, simply, that Dish Network are now no longer allowed to air Distant Network channels such as ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS. This ruling applies to all Dish Network customers – including those who took the time to go through the eligibility process.
Direct TV, on the other hand, still offer all these channels and hundreds more – including exclusive access to the NFL Sunday Ticket Mega March Madness. Direct TV offers a number of other channels that are not available with Dish Network, and these include Fox Reality, PBS Kids and TV One. Direct TV is home to more than fifty Spanish language channels, and offers programming in South Asian, Vietnamese and Chinese, with plans to present even more. Direct TV also promises a minimum of fifty-five pay-per-view programs each day.
Although Direct TV currently boast more than 15,000,000 customers and a number of prestigious customer services awards, it should be stated that Dish Network has 13,000,000 customers of its own and offers a much wider range of international programming and popular movies than Direct TV. The Dish Network service also costs slightly less than that of Direct TV, and rarely ranks much lower in customer service satisfaction polls. Dish Network also offers a host of traditional and family-oriented programming which is not available with other satellite tv providers, alongside an exclusive range of specialist rural living channels and programming.
